Bea

Bea

Bea has been with us for a long while now. She is coming up eleven years old.

As a youngster she had a fabulous showing career, but as she grew so did her roached back.

That put an end to her showing career and with no chance of a ridden career either, so she came to Tia.

She is one of the friendliest/nosiest of our Shire girls and doesn’t like to miss out on anything…

Katie & Ivy

Katie & Ivy

Katie & Ivy are both 10 years old. They have come from a very good home, but things change and their owner thought they would be better here, to console Dandy when he lost Beano. They are lovely donkeys and have fit in very well with everyone else here at Tia.

Zorro & Thor

Zorro & Thor

I saw the foals in the field just shortly after they were born.

Zorro was by far the worst as the months went on. His skin began to rot off him and he was having fits.
Thor looked healthy enough but he took a nosedive when his mom died, he stood at her side for over two weeks.
By the time i managed to get them they were not in a good way, still only babies around 6 months old. The vet came out, did bloods, then came back a few days later to put them to sleep.
“Treat them” i said.
“Why? They will be dead in a couple of weeks anyway” she replied
Zorro and Thor are now 5years old. Yes they will have long term liver problems, but at the minute they are healthy, happy and very much loved.
They are available to sponsor together.

Joey

Joey

The first time i saw Joey was at a sale but no one wanted him as has sweet itch.

I just couldn’t stop thinking about him so we hotfooted it to Scotland a couple of months later.
Joey was only 2years old at this point and absolutely huge.
Our big lad has struggled to put and keep weight on because i don’t think he has ever stopped growing. He is 10years old in February 2022 and he is by far the biggest horse we have. He is 19 hands tall, a beautiful Clydesdale..
Joey has sweet itch, which is manageable and stringhalt which makes him walk funny. Anywhere else and he would have been put down long ago….

Dandy

Dandy

The fund raising department.

Only Major Tom has raised more cash! Please don’t be fooled by the cute and appealing looks, these two rogues have caused havoc throughout the years. They seem completely impervious to the sting of an electric fence. During the last move they were the cause of a major crisis when they were almost squashed by a rightly aggrieved shire.

Dandy and Beano have rattled a tin all over Yorkshire over the last decade. They usually put in an appearance at various Santa’s Grottoes and even Halifax Cathedral.

Shortly after the move to Scotland, Beano died in the field. Absolutely no idea what happened. They were a bonded pair and it was very sad to see Dandy grieving.  A call went out and Katy & Ivy arrived to look after him. He isn’t that bothered about them, he misses his buddy, but at least he is okay…
