Maha

Maha

Breed: Greyhound
Sex: Female

When Maha arrived at Tia rescue she was afraid of life, needing to spend her paddock time on a lead as catching her was a morning’s work. Her confidence has grown and now she loves the kennel staff. She also loves Woody, her kennel mate; she sleeps on him, snuggles up, hides behind him, chases and plays with him. He is her rock.
She remains frightened of people, especially men. Barking from a distance, with Woody at her side.
The outside world is too scary for this little angel.
She has been given forever sanctuary at Tia Rescue and is our new sponsor dog.
Maha is hoping for sponsors to help with her keep.

About Me

My Way Longley, dob 1.9.2012

My Way Longley raced at Belle Vue but when he was no longer of any use his owner left him at the trainers with the instruction “put him to sleep” and promptly stopped paying the kennel bill.

Fortunately the trainer and a “greyhound friend” arranged for him to come here..

19/06/16 he came to Tia. Keen as hell, another black dog, slowly making his way down to the sponsor end of the kennel block like so many others here, inevitable replacements for the Blythes, the Hansons and the Tys as they leave us.

Fortunately, his new mom saw past this and here he is. Much loved and happy.

New sponsor dog Langley
This older lad has been here for some years, he is a big gentle black hound with mesmerising eyes.
Nobody ever chose him to go and put his feet up, he is as keen as mustard towards all things small.
Please consider sponsoring Langleys to stay at Tia Rescue.

Kaia

Kaia

Breed: Lurcher
Sex: Female

About Me

Kaia came to under our wing in March 2015; a stray from Hampole she was filthy, thin and a nervous wreck. Fortune smiled upon her for once and Kaia went to live with an elderly lady with a cat. She was very happy in her new home but the old lady fell ill last year and sadly Kaia had to return to the fold.

Kaia has settled back so well we feel it isn’t fair to uproot her again. The lady must be about eight now and seems blissfully happy and is no trouble.

Sweet sweet girl and excellent at helping newcomers settle to their new lodgings. The place wouldn’t be the same without her.

Spud

Spud

Breed: Lurcher
Sex: Male

About Me

In August 2018 a local farmer rang to say he had found a greyhound in his shed. It was exhausted and in a state..

Bob and I went to the farm, which turned out to be a huge unit with 4 of the biggest, hardest farmers I have ever seen. The shed itself was a massive agricultural shed full of wooden potato boxes. They were pointing to a potato box that they used for their rubbish, full of empty cans and sandwich/crisp packets and there curled up in the corner was a little black lurcher.

He was growling at the huge guys with a “when-you’re-hard-enough-mate” look on his little face. I bent over into the crate and called and he got to his feet. He planted a kiss on me and I lifted him out of the potato box and put him in the van. Poor little scrap had a badly injured leg and was very thin.

To show his gratitude he blew a rehoming, behaving atrociously and destroying the house. He loathes men and would have a go, if he was cornered. In short, an un-homeable right sod!

Spud is safe here, meaning the outside world is also safe. He is a good guard dog and loves his kennel, and especially Jess who works on a Saturday…
